A children’s charity in Horsham has received donations of baby and toddler clothes from Southern Water employees.
At the end of January, Southern Water’s Capital Delivery Department and our partner CMDP (Costain, MWH Treatment) joined forces to call on colleagues to donate any pre-worn baby or children's clothes, or to purchase and donate baby products, to the Ten Little Toes Baby Bank.
Ten Little Toes is a charity based near Southern Water’s Horsham Wastewater Treatment Works, where CMDP is carrying out a £31 million upgrade. They offer support to families expecting babies and parents with young children up to the age of 12, who are in crisis or facing difficult circumstances throughout Sussex.
Ten Little Toes then provides essential items to those in need locally.
The donations follow on from efforts during 2023, when employees from Southern Water and CMDP helped Ten Little Toes by volunteering their time to help clear their outdoor space, which was needed before sheds could be built to provide more storage space.
This recent activity is the latest in a number of wide-ranging ‘social value’ activities undertaken by the Horsham project team with the aim of delivering long-term positive social impact to the local community.
Amanda Lusted, of Ten Little Toes said:
“Ten Little Toes are so grateful for the help and support of Southern Water and CMDP. The work the team undertook in our gardens was transformational and has really facilitated our ability to grow our capacity. The recent donations from the team were also so well received. As a small charity, partnerships like this really do make a big difference to us and enable us to support more local people who need help to provide the basics for their children, giving hope and love back to our community.”
Jonathan Quirk – Project Manager, Southern Water said:
“We were so pleased to be put in contact with Ten Little Toes through the Horsham Council Volunteering forum and the support we were able to provide through both volunteering and organising the charity collection across both our Southern Water Construction and delivery partner organisations demonstrates the work the Horsham project team strive to deliver when working within the community and improve not only our social value expertise but deliver real and tangible change to charities such as Ten Little Toes.”
